COVID-19 POLICY
As Covid-19 is still an ongoing global pandemic, we have produced a policy to guide our clients through the steps we are taking to ensure the safety of both our clients and our staff.
The Élan Aesthetics salon is Dermalogica clean touch certified. That means we uphold Dermalogica's 12 principles of enhanced service safety to keep your treatments clean and safe.
The 12 principles are as follows:
1. Prescreen clients to ensure they are free from any sickness and have not had contact with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the previous 14 days. Employees should be free from any sickness and temperature shall be checked prior to beginning the work shift.
2. Clients in high-risk and vulnerable groups such as an advanced age or with pre-existing medical conditions are advised not to get treatments.
3. Ensure physical distancing protocols maintain 6 feet between clients in common areas, by, for example, staggering appointments, offering curbside check-in or limiting entrance to the skin center.
4. Clients and employees shall wear masks in common areas. Therapists shall wear a clean, dry mask during each shift. Masks can be worn for more than one client but must be put on and taken off in a sanitary manner. Therapists shall also wear a face shield when working in close proximity to the client. Therapists shall wear a freshly laundered or disposable apron during each shift.
5. Hands shall be sanitized on entry to the skin care center. Therapists shall visibly wash hands with soap and water for 20 seconds before and after touching clients, after contact with soiled or unsterilized tools and surroundings. Every treatment or skin analysis that involves touching should begin with a facial cleanse.
6. Gloves are not recommended over thorough hand washing unless they are requested by clients or required by authorities. If used, gloves shall be changed before and after touching clients and after contact with any soiled or unsterilized tools and surroundings.
7. All professional use products shall be disinfected after each use and stored in a cabinet or sealed container when not in use.
8. Treatment beds must be covered with either clean treatment table paper, a clean towel, or a clean sheet before each client. Only use blankets that are laundered after every client.
9. All non-porous, metal, or plastic non-disposable equipment, as well as surfaces, must be cleaned and then disinfected before each use. Electrical items shall be sprayed or wiped before each use.
10. Clean and dirty items and tools must be kept visibly separate in well-marked, covered containers.
11. All high touch areas throughout the skin center shall be disinfected when visibly soiled and at least hourly.
12. Retail testers shall be wiped down before and after each use. Products packaged in jars are currently not appropriate as testers. Tester product shall only be applied to the hands.
Covid-19 is an evolving pandemic and therefore this policy is subject to change as the situation evolves. Rest assured we will be responding to any changes dynamically.
It is a bit lengthy but please do take the time to read it prior to your appointment.
In particular, pay close attention to the ‘BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT’ and ‘ON THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT’ instructions.
Safety is our number one priority and we are a medical aesthetic clinic with high infection control standards.
There are certain steps we need our clients to take to maintain this and we greatly appreciate your cooperation with the new measures we will be implementing.
BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT.
If you feel you are at risk of being infected, even if you are asymptomatic, we respectfully request for you to delay your appointment for a minimum of 2 weeks.
We would recommend that patients in high-risk groups for developing serious complications from Covid-19 delay treatment until we have definitive vaccination or treatment. If you are not sure whether you are in a high-risk group, please check the NHS Website: www.nhs.uk.
Please wear a mask/face covering if possible. We will also have sufficient supply in clinic if you do not have one.
Space in the clinic is limited so please attend your appointment alone. If someone comes with you, please ask them to wait outside the building.
Please limit the number of belongings you bring to the clinic. We will have a dedicated area for you to place your belongings when you enter the salon.
Please try to use the toilet before your appointment to reduce the need at your appointment to reduce the risk of cross-contamination.
Avoid wearing makeup to limit the time taken to remove it. Please minimise jewellery worn on the day.
ON THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT.
Please wait in your car when you arrive at the salon. We will come out and collect you as soon as we are ready to start your appointment. If you arrive late, we may not have sufficient time to complete your treatment on the day.
Just before you enter we will take your temperature. If your temperature is high we would respectfully request for you to delay your appointment for a minimum of 2 weeks.
Please use the hand sanitiser provided.
A mask will be provided if you do not have one. Masks should be kept on for upper face procedures but will need to be taken off for lower face.
STAFF MEASURES.
OUR TEAM will be using personal protective equipment in line with current recommendations and evidence. Wearing a mask can make social interaction difficult and we apologise in advance for this. Please be assured we are the same friendly team underneath even if you cannot see our smiles!
The practitioner will be wearing a shield as well as aN apron which will be changed between clients.
Regularly washing hands and using alcohol gel between and during each appointment.
Allocating sufficient buffer time between patients to disinfect the clinic and ventilate the room.
The practitioner will be wearing clothes that are only worn in the salon and washed daily at 60C.
SUMMARY.
We kindly ask you to make sure you read the pre-appointment information and adhere to the advice as best as possible.
The policy will be under constant review and we will inform you of any changes as soon as possible.
If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We are so excited to reopen and to see all our lovely clients in the salon again!
Whether you are an existing client or it is your first time visiting the salon, rest assured your safety and comfort is our No.1 priority.
